U.S. Runs $43B Budget Deficit in June
The U.S. budget deficit fell in June to $43.08 billion from a year-earlier level of $68.42 billion, or 37%, as tax revenues continued to rise, the Treasury Department reported on Wednesday.
The monthly deficit was less than the $65 billion gap economists surveyed by Reuters had forecast.
So far in the first nine months of fiscal 2011, which ends Sept. 30, the cumulative deficit is $970.52 billion. That is down from $1.004 trillion in the comparable period in fiscal 2010.
