U.K. Regulator Takes Consumer Action Against Aer Lingus, Wizz Air, Jet2
Airlines operated by Aer Lingus Group PLC , Wizz Air Holdings PLC , and Dart Group PLC's Jet2 are in violation of consumer protection laws, U.K.'s Civil Aviation Authority said on Saturday. The CAA said Jet2 and Wizz Air are not consistently paying compensation to passengers affected by technical disruptions and are imposing two-year limits for passengers to file compensation claims despite rulings that passengers have six years to file. Additionally, Aer Lingus and Jet2 have failed to provide "satisfactory evidence" to the CAA that they are providing passengers with information about their rights concerning flight disruptions, the agency said. CAA said it also has concerns about how Ryanair Holdings PLC is handling passenger claims although legal action has yet to be taken.
