Twitter Will Partner With IGN To Live Stream San Diego Comic-Con

Twitter Inc. and IGN Entertainment are partnering to live stream San Diego Comic-Con, the U.S.'s pre-eminent gaming and entertainment conference. The news of the partnership comes just after the two worked together to stream the video game-centric Electronic Entertainment Expo, or E3. The live-stream coverage garnered an average of 2.6 million unique viewers per day. While Twitter has been able to increase its active user base, the social media platform has struggled to capitalize on that and turn activity into cash. Twitter has been parading its user base to organizations looking for eyeballs for live events. Coverage of Sand Diego Comic-Con, which centers on film, TV and the comic book industry, begins July 19, with 13 hours of live coverage hosted and produced by IGN. Shares of Twitter have gained 8% in the year to date, while the S&P 500 index is up more than 8% in the year.
