Twitter Now Allows Anyone To Privately Message Each Other

Twitter Inc. unveiled a new feature Monday that allows users to direct message, or privately message, anyone on the platform without having to follow each other. The feature isn't automatic though, as users do have to opt in to allow the service. Previously, to privately message a Twitter user, both users would have to follow each other. Twitter has also been busy recently filing trademarks for the term "tweetstorm," or a linked series of tweets, developer tools called "The Future of Identity" and a media icon, according to Fortune.
