TSA Chief Reassigned After Agency Reportedly Failed Tests

The head of the Transportation Security Administration was reassigned, after the agency was reported to have failed to detect banned weapons and fake explosives smuggled in by undercover agents posing as passengers 95% of the time. The acting director, Melvin Carraway, has been reassigned by Homeland Security chief Jeh Johnson to the Office of State and Local Law Enforcement. Acting Deputy Director Mark Hatfield will lead TSA until a new acting administrator is appointed. President Barack Obama in April nominated Coast Guard Vice Admiral Pete Neffenger to be the next administrator.
