Tropical Storm Ana Comes Ashore In South Carolina
Tropical Storm Ana, the first of the Atlantic 2015 hurricane season and an unusually early storm, came ashore near Myrtle Beach, S.C., Sunday morning with 45 mile-per-hour winds and heavy rains. The storm was expected to drench South Carolina and North Carolina before weakening and moving back out to sea. There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage. The hurricane season formally begins in June, but there have been early storms in May as recently as 2012, according to media reports citing National Hurricane Center officials.
