Trial postponed, competency hearing set in 'Thunder from Down Under' shooting case in Vegas
A Nevada judge has postponed trial and scheduled a competency hearing for a 25-year-old man accused of firing a gun while trying to steal costumes and props from "Thunder From Down Under" male revue cast members at a resort on the Las Vegas Strip.
Joey Kadmiri also could get a new lawyer appointed Thursday, after telling Clark County District Court Judge Jerome Tao on Tuesday that he was firing his attorney, Joshua Tomsheck.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports (http://bit.ly/1rMzgni ) that Kadmiri said he believes his lawyer and prosecutors are conspiring against him with a plea deal to avoid trial on felony burglary, robbery, battery and weapon charges.
Kadmiri has pleaded not guilty in the March 18 incident at the Excalibur Hotel and Casino.
Members of the Australia-themed show restrained Kadmiri until police arrived.
