Toyota To Conduct Safety Recalls Of About 112,500 Vehicles
Toyota Motor Sales USA said it will recall about 112,500 vehicles, citing safety concerns with some of the vehicles' propulsion systems and electric power steering circuit boards. The recalled vehicles include 110,000 model 2015 Camry, Camry Hybrid, Highlander, Highlander Hybrid vehicles and 2014 to 2015 model RAV4 vehicles, and about 2,500 model 2012 to 2014 RAV4 EV vehicles. For the RAV4 EVs, a software issue in some components in the electric vehicle traction motor assembly may cause the vehicle to shift to neutral. For the other vehicles, a circuit board for the electric power steering may have been damaged during manufacturing, which could result in the loss of power steering assist. Toyota said it is not aware of any crashes, injuries or fatalities resulting from the issues. The U.S.-listed shares of the Japanese car maker were up 0.5% in afternoon trade.
