Total Opens 1.4% Higher; CEO Death Brews Uncertainty
U.S.-listed shares of France's Total SA rose Tuesday, a day after CEO Christophe de Margerie died in a plane crash in a Russian airport. The oil giant, France's second-largest company after drug maker Sanofi, had no succession plan in place and shareholders had recently approved a resolution to increase the company's CEO age cap. De Margerie and the three crew members died after the business jet they were traveling in crashed with a snowplow on the runway of Moscow's Vnukovo International Airport.
