Are you eating too much added sugar? The nutrition facts label may one day help figure that out.
The government is proposing that food labels include the percentage of your recommended daily intake of added sugars — the "percent daily value."

The Food and Drug Administration proposed an overhaul of the nutrition facts label last year, including a new line for sugars that don't occur naturally.
Labels now include percent daily values for other nutrients, but the proposal didn't have one for added sugars. Since then, a government advisory committee recommended that that people get no more of 10 percent of calories daily from added sugars.
The FDA's proposal would be based on that number.
