The New York Times posts 3Q loss, results beat Street expectations
The New York Times Co. (NYT) on Thursday reported a third-quarter loss of $12.5 million.
The New York-based newspaper publisher said it had a loss of 8 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for severance costs and non-recurring costs, were 3 cents per share.
The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 1 cent per share.
Revenue came to $364.7 million in the period, also topping Street forecasts. Analysts expected $363.5 million, according to Zacks.
Shares of The New York Times Co. fell 80 cents, or 6 percent, to $12.60 in midday trading Thursday, leaving it down 21 percent in 2014.
