The boom continues: Container volume up again at South Carolina ports

Business continues to boom at South Carolina's ports.

The South Carolina Ports Authority says container volume at the state's ports last month was up more than 13 percent compared with September of last year.

The authority says the equivalent of about 150,000 containers moved through the Port of Charleston during the month. For the calendar year, volume is up more than 11 percent.

Authority president and CEO Jim Newsome says that growth continues, in part, because of the automotive industry as companies add new vehicle lines and vehicle exports continue to rise.
