Tesla Motors Inc.'s stock shot up 3% in active morning trade Wednesday, putting it on an early track to close at a nine-month high. Volume as of 11:20 a.m. Eastern was about 3.2 million shares, compared with the full-day average of 3.7 million shares, according to FactSet. The stock has now soared 34% over the past three months, compared with the S&P 500's 1.2% gain. Earlier, Tesla entered into an exclusive partnership with leading battery researcher Jeff Dahn in an effort to lower battery costs, according to a Dow Jones report.
