Target Cuts Minimum Order Threshold For Free Shipping To $25

Target Corp. said on Monday that it slashed its minimum online order threshold to receive free shipping in half, to $25 from $50. The discount retailer said the move, which has "virtually no exceptions," was in response to the strong online sales performance it had during the 2014 holiday season. "We saw an enthusiastic response to our free shipping offer over the holidays," said Jason Goldberger, present of Target.com and the company's mobile business. "Now, whether guests are stocking up or doing fill-in shopping, we've enhanced our year-round shipping offer to be one of the best in all of retail." The stock, which was little changed in premarket trade, has gained 7.5% over the past three months, compared with a 0.4% decline in chief rival Wal-Mart Stores and a 2.3% rise in the S&P 500.
