Synopsys Reports Earnings Rise Of Almost 10%

Synopsys Inc. on Wednesday reported a fiscal fourth-quarter profit of $62.5 million, or 39 cents a share, on revenue of $539 million. During the year-ago period, the maker of design-automation software earned $56.9 million, or 36 cents a share, on $504.9 million in sales. Excluding one-time items, Synopsys earned 64 cents a share. Analysts surveyed by FactSet had forecast Synopsys to earn 60 cents a share on $541 million in revenue for the period ending Oct. 31. For its first quarter, Synopsys estimates it will earn between 61 cents and 63 cents a share, excluding one-time items, on revenue in a range of $535 million to $545 million. Synopsys shares edged up by 0.5% in after-hours trading following the release of the results.
