Symantec Shares Slip After Earnings Miss, Weak Outlook

Symantec Corp. shares fell 3.4% to $25.02 on moderate volume in the extended session Thursday after the computer security company's fiscal fourth-quarter earnings and outlook fell short of Wall Street estimates. The company reported adjusted fiscal fourth-quarter earnings of 43 cents a share on adjusted revenue of $1.55 billion. Analysts surveyed by FactSet had estimated 44 cents a share on revenue of $1.56 billion. Symantec forecast adjusted earnings of 41 cents to 44 cents a share on revenue of $1.5 billion to $1.54 billion for the first quarter, and $1.80 to $1.90 a share on revenue of $6.21 billion to $6.35 billion for the year. Analysts expect 45 cents a share on revenue of $1.61 billion for the first quarter, and $1.90 a share on revenue of $6.55 billion for the year.
