Stocks higher as momentum continues for Dow
The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained momentum into the closing bell Friday, as stocks ended the week on a high note.
The Dow jumped 110.59 points, or 0.43 percent, to 25,669.32. The S&P 500 gained 9.44 points, closing at 2,850.13. The Nasdaq Composite rose 9.81 points, or 0.13 percent, to 7,816.33.
The Dow added more than 500 points combined in the final two days of trading this week. The major U.S. stock market indexes closed higher on Thursday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average leading the charge, boosted in large part by Boeing and Walmart. Boeing’s advance was on the back of easing trade tensions, while Walmart was lifted by its positive quarterly earnings report. Thursday was the Dow's best day in four months.

Officials from both the U.S. and China on Thursday said they would hold talks later this month to discuss trade.
In company news, Nordstrom 's shares rallied after the company’s better-than-expected quarterly earnings report and forecast.
In economic data, the University of Michigan's consumer sentiment survey for August was released. It came in at 95.3 below expectations for 98. U.S. leading economic indicators increased 0.6% in July.
Commodities were mixed.
