Stocks Mixed; Energy Shares Drop, Airlines Soar

U.S. stocks were mixed in early trade after opening with small gains Friday. The S&P 500 notched an intraday high in early going but soon pulled back 0.1% to 2,070.33. The Dow Jones Industrial Average edged up 0.1% to 17,836.14. The Nasdaq Composite rose 0.1% to 4,793.05. Shares of Exxon Mobil fell 3.5%, while Chevron dropped 4.6% after OPEC on Thursday left its production target unchanged, sending oil prices skidding to 4-1/2 year lows. Airline stocks rose, while retailers are also in focus as the holiday shopping season gets under way.
