Stocks Finish Lower After Seesaw Session

U.S. stocks closed slightly lower Thursday as investors grappled with upbeat earnings reports, downbeat economic data, and a handful of Federal Reserve speakers debating when the central bank should raise interest rates. Following a session of slight gains and declines, the Dow Jones Industrial Average closed down 6.84 points at 18,105.77. The S&P 500 Index finished down 1.64 points at 2,104.99. The Nasdaq Composite Index fell 3.23 points to close at 5,007.79.
