Stocks End Mixed; Oil Sinks Energy Sector
U.S. stocks posted a mixed finish, with the S&P 500 weakening late in a holiday-abbreviated session that saw energy shares hit by OPEC's decision to leave oil production unchanged. The S&P 500 fell 5.27 points, or 0.3%, to close at 2,067.56, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average added less than a half point to close at 17,828.24, eking out a record close. Both indexes ended Wednesday at record levels; U.S. markets were closed Thursday for the Thanksgiving Day holiday. The Nasdaq Composite ended with a gain of 4.31 points at 4,791.63.
