Stocks Close Lower; Dow Slightly Down For Quarter

U.S. stocks closed with sizable losses Tuesday, leaving the Dow industrials with a slight decline for the year's first quarter. Some analysts blamed the session's drop on expectations for disappointing first-quarter earnings. The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed down 200.19 points, or 1.1%, at 17,776.12, and the blue-chip gauge ended down nearly 0.3% for the quarter, according to preliminary FactSet data.
