S&P 500, Dow End Lower, But Nasdaq Gains

U.S. stocks closed lower Thursday, taking a breather a day after a Federal Reserve-inspired rally that sent the S&P 500 to its highest close in two weeks. The S&P finished down by 10.38 points, or 0.5%, at 2,089.12, as oil prices dropped and energy stocks helped lead the way lower. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 117.16 points, or nearly 0.7%, to end at 17,959.03. The Nasdaq Composite bucked the negative trend, rising 9.55 points, or 0.2%, to close at 4,992.38.
