Small plane with landing gear problem veers off Connecticut runway; nobody injured

A small plane with a landing gear problem has veered off a Connecticut airport runway and ended up in the grass. No one was hurt.

Bridgeport firefighters responded to Sikorsky Memorial Airport in Stratford on Monday afternoon for what they call a minor aircraft accident.

The pilot was the only person in the single-engine Piper PA-24. Firefighters say there were no fuel leaks from the accident and there was no fire.

The airport was closed for about two hours while airport personnel removed the plane from the runway area.

The accident is being investigated.
