Six Flags said it plans to open parks in China, its first expansion outside North America

Six Flags said Monday it plans to open theme parks in China.

The company said it intends to open multiple parks in China over the next decade, but the date for the opening of the first park has not been set.

Six Flags said it will build the parks through a partnership with Riverside Investment Group, which develops real estate in China. The companies did not disclose the terms of that agreement.

Six Flags Entertainment Corp. is based in Grand Prairie, Texas, and it has 18 parks in the U.S., Mexico, and Canada. Its shares rose 44 cents to $42.16 in morning trading.
