Senators Ask White To Eliminate Disparity In SEC Filings

The top Democrat and Republican on the Senate Banking Committee wrote a letter to Securities and Exchange Commission Chairwoman Mary Jo White, asking the regulator to eliminate the disparity between company filing access speed. Academic studies have shown that filings are distributed more quickly to private subscribers than the general public. Sens. Tim Johnson, a South Dakota Democrat, and Mike Crapo, an Idaho Republican, said the unequal access was even more troubling since it results from SEC-managed systems.
