Sen. Menendez, Rep. Pallone Call For FTC Probe Into Fantasy Sports Sites

Sen. Bob Menendez and Rep. Frank Pallone, both Democrats of New Jersey, wrote to Federal Trade Commission Chairwoman Edith Ramirez asking whether the agency has authority under the law to regulate online fantasy sports gaming and what legislative remedies it would recommend. "We believe that fantasy sports should be legal and subject to appropriate consumer and competitive protections," Sen. Menendez and Rep. Pallone wrote, saying the letter was prompted by reports employees of FanDuel and DraftKings have used nonpublic information to trade on each other's sites. "Consumers also expect companies to hold online contests in a fair, transparent manner." Pallone has previously called for a Congressional probe into their activities.
