Russia ETF Tumbles To Lowest Level Since March 2009
The Market Vectors Russia ETF fell 7.4% on heavy volume early Tuesday, to trade at the lowest level since March 11, 2009, as the country struggles with a currency crisis. Among the U.S.-listed shares of the ETFs components, Gazprom OAO's dropped 8.8%, CTC Media's slid 2.9%, Sberbank Russia's plunged 19%, VimpelCom's was down 4.2%, Mobile Telesystems' shed 10% and Yandex's lost 12%. The ETF has dropped 34% so far this month and 48% in three months. Meanwhile, the SPDR S&P 500 ETF slipped 0.6% early Tuesday, and has slipped 4.2% this month and 1% in three months.
