Russell 2000 Hits Record High

Give a hand to the little guy, as the Russell 2000 index of small-capitalization stocks has reached an all-time high in intraday trade Wednesday. The index turned higher, erasing an earlier loss of as much as 0.5%, after the Federal Reserve indicated that interest rate increases may come later than investors expected. The Russell 2000's high of 1246.02 tops the record of 1243.33, which was first hit on Feb. 27, then matched on Monday. Meanwhile, the S&P 500's intraday high of 2089.72 is still 1.4% below the Feb. 25 record intraday high of 2119.59.
