RealD Shares Rally On Starboard Buyout Offer

RealD Inc. shares jumped in the extended session Wednesday after Starboard Value disclosed in a Securities and Exchange Commission filing it had taken a 10% stake and offered to buy the rest of the shares in the 3D movie projector company. RealD shares rose 19% to $11.05 on moderate volume. Starboard offered $12 a share for the rest of the company's shares. With about 45 million shares not owned by Starboard, that would come to around $540 million.
