Real Housewives Stars Sentenced To Jail Time For Mortgage Fraud
Real Housewives of New Jersey stars Teresa and Giuseppe "Joe" Giudice have been sentenced to jail time of 15 months and 41 months respectively, according to media reports. Joe Giudice will also have to pay restitution of $414,558. The reality couple admitted to submitting phony loan applications to get mortgage and construction loans worth more than $5 million, and to hiding assets from bankruptcy creditors. The couple pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud and three types of bankruptcy fraud. Joe Giudice also admitted he did not file tax returns on income of $1 million between 2004 and 2008. Under sentencing guidelines, Joe Guidice faced up to 46 months in prison, while Teresa Giudice faced up to 27 months. The couple have four children together. Joe Giudice also faces deportation as he is an Italian citizen, who was brought to the U.S. as a child.
