Prudential Shares Fall 2% After Earnings

Prudential Financial Inc. reported on Wednesday third-quarter profit of $465 million, or 99 cents per share, compared to $958 million, or $2.04 per share a year ago. Adjusted net income was $1.034 billion, or $2.20 per share, compared to $1.373 billion, or $2.89 per share in the year ago quarter. Revenue was $11.766 billion, compared to $10.783 billion the year before. Analysts were expecting earnings per share to be $2.41 on revenue of $11.33 billion. Prudential reported assets under management were up to $1.16 trillion at the end of the third quarter, compared to $1.076 trillion a year ago. Revenues on premiums rose 9% to $5.923 billion, compared to $5.414 billion a year ago. Shares fell 2% in after market trading.
