Prison Stocks Rise In The Wake Of Trump Win
Shares of companies that operate in the prison industry rose in Wednesday premarket trading in the aftermath of Donald Trump's election win. Shares of Corrections Corporation of America soared 19.7%, while GEO Group Inc , a real estate investment trust (REIT), were up 9.1%. Shares of both companies have sunk in the year to date. Corrections Corp. is down 46.4% for that period and GEO Group is down 17.4%. The S&P 500 Index is up 4.7% for the year to date.
