Police investigate reports of armed man at Boeing aircraft plant in Everett, Washington

Police in Everett, Washington, are searching buildings at the Boeing plant there as they check unconfirmed reports of a man with a weapon.

Police spokesman Aaron Snell said Thursday night that nearly two hours after police received two reports of a man "potentially carrying a rifle," officers have found no sign of anyone with a weapon.

Snell says police are doing their "due diligence" after the reports came in around 7 p.m.

He says Boeing workers are being evacuated as officers come across them in their search, but he didn't know how many workers had been evacuated.

Numerous police units are at the sprawling plant where Boeing builds wide-body jets ranging from the 747 to the 787.

Boeing Co. spokesman Doug Alder says the company is "taking all precautions" until officials know what's going on. He declined to specify those precautions.
