P&G To Open Facility In West Virginia, Create 700 Full-time Jobs
Consumer goods giant Procter & Gamble Co. said Tuesday it's planning to build a new manufacturing facility in Berkeley County, West Virginia, that will produce multiple brands once it opens in 2017. The plant is the company's first in West Virginia and only its second new U.S. site since 1971. The owner of such household name brands as Pampers, Gillette and Tide is expecting to create more than 1,000 construction jobs and to employ about 700 full-time workers once the facility is complete. The company is investing about $500 million in the project. Shares were little changed in early trade, and are down 5.1% in the last three months, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average has gained 1%.
