Pepsi to launch soda sweetened with stevia, starting with sales on Amazon

There's Pepsi, Diet Pepsi and now, Pepsi True, a midcalorie version of the soda made with natural sweeteners.

PepsiCo Inc. says Pepsi True will have 30 percent fewer calories than the regular version and be made with a mix of sugar and stevia, a natural sweetener with no calories.

The drink will go on sale later this month exclusively on Amazon.com. It will come in 7.5-ounce cans, with each serving containing 60 calories.

Diet Pepsi, which is made with artificial sweeteners, has no calories.

Coca-Cola also is testing a stevia-sweetened version of its soda, called Coca-Cola Life, in the southeastern U.S.

The soda makers are hoping to turn around declining soda consumption in the U.S. by offering alternatives that are lower in calories and made with natural sweeteners.
