Pennsylvania-brewed Yuengling beer not on tap at governor-elect's inaugural party

Yuengling (YING' ling) bills its Pottsville, Pennsylvania, brewery as the oldest in the nation, but its beer won't be served at Democrat Gov.-elect Tom Wolf's inaugural celebration. And a Republican legislator thinks he knows why.

State Rep. Mike Vereb told The Philadelphia Inquirer (http://bit.ly/17Rk9k4 ) he doesn't think it's an accident that Yuengling was left off the list of beers being served at Tuesday night's party.

Yuengling's president Richard Yuengling Jr. is a GOP activist who supports "right to work" laws barring mandatory union dues and membership. Wolf received major support from organized labor in his campaign.

Inaugural spokeswoman Beth Melena says organizers simply met their "beverage needs" with other Pennsylvania breweries.

Teamsters Local 830, which once represented some Yuengling workers, praised Wolf as making a strong statement for the labor movement.
