Outerwall Shares Climb On Earnings, Outlook

Outerwall Inc. shares rallied in the extended session Thursday after the operator of Coinstar and Redbox kiosks reported results and an outlook that topped Wall Street estimates. Outerwall shares advanced 7.6% to $71.55 on moderate volume. The company reported first-quarter earnings of $2.23 a share, and "core" earnings of $2.87 a share, on revenue of $608.6 million. Analysts surveyed by FactSet had forecast $1.74 a share on revenue of $596.6 million. Outerwall forecast core full-year earnings of $7.49 to $8.49 a share on revenue of $2.29 billion to $2.42 billion. Analysts had estimated $7.22 a share on revenue of $2.36 billion.
