Ohio gas prices down to start work week; state average remains well below national number

Ohio motorists will find lower gas prices to start the work week.

The average price for a gallon of regular gas was $3.37 in Monday's survey from auto club AAA, the Oil Price Information Service and WEX Inc. That's 12 cents less than a week ago — and 29 cents lower than a month ago in Ohio.

Monday's national average was $3.52, which is a nickel lower than a week ago, and 16 cents lower a month ago.

Analysts say U.S. refiners, enjoying plentiful supplies, have aggressively cut wholesale prices to chase sales.

The lowest average in the state was $3.22 in Toledo. The highest was $3.41 in Akron.
