Officials in Los Angeles suburb to consider proposed $1.7 billion NFL stadium
The Los Angeles suburb of Carson could approve a $1.7 billion NFL stadium in the wake of a similar vote in nearby Inglewood — even though details haven't been worked out.
The Carson City Council might decide Tuesday night to approve construction of a stadium or set a later public vote.
The San Diego Chargers and Oakland Raiders want to share a Carson arena if both teams fail to get new stadiums in their hometowns.
A city-commissioned report says the proposal lacks details and says the stadium will need two teams to be a moneymaker.
But Carson might not want to wait for details since Inglewood in February approved a stadium plan backed by the owner of the St. Louis Rams.
The Los Angeles area has been without an NFL team for two decades.
