Obama Urges Swift Passage of Tax Plan
U.S. President Barack Obama urged lawmakers to "act quickly" to pass a bipartisan tax package that overcame a procedural hurdle in the Senate on Monday.
The full Senate is expected to vote on the $858 billion plan, which would keep lowered tax rates from expiring at the end of the year, on Tuesday or Wednesday. The measure will then go to the House of Representatives for approval.
"I urge the House of Representatives to act quickly on this important matter," Obama said.
