Obama Threatens Veto Of House Education Bill
President Barack Obama would veto a House Republican effort to rewrite the federal No Child Left Behind law, the White House said in a statement Wednesday. The House bill, which is expected to pass the chamber later in the week along party lines, "represents a significant step backwards in the efforts to help all of the nation's children and their families prepare for their futures." Senate Republicans are working on their own version of No Child Left Behind, which expired in 2007.
