Nova Star sees surge in advance bookings for motor coaches for next season
The company that runs the Nova Star ferry between Portland, Maine, and Yarmouth, Nova Scotia says it has already received advance bookings for 43 motor coaches in 2015.
The company said fewer than 20 motor coaches took the trip during the inaugural 2014 season.
Nova Star Cruises says it expects to book even more of the luxury buses for next season because company officials plan on attending several trade shows this fall.
The ferry service ended early this year because it failed to meet ridership goals. Service next year depends in part on how much the Nova Scotia government decides to subsidize it.
The Portland Press Herald (http://bit.ly/1DHyE4F ) reports that according to records the company provided to the city, 59,018 passengers and 19,814 vehicles used the ferry this year.
