NOAA Predicts 'below Normal' Atlantic Hurricane Season

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration on Wednesday predicted a "below normal" Atlantic hurricane season this year. The season officially runs from June 1 to November 30, but made an early start with Tropical Storm Ana this month. There is a 70% chance of 6 to 11 named storms, of which 3 to 6 could become hurricanes, including up to 2 major hurricanes of Category 3 or higher. This year's hurricane season will be milder thanks to El Nio, the weather event that affects wind and pressure patterns, NOAA said.
