New York Subways Up And Running, Tunnels Open To Traffic
A travel ban for New York City transit was lifted early Tuesday, with all nine MTA bridge and tunnel facilities now open to automobile traffic, the MTA said on its Website. MTA Long Island Rail Road, MTA Metro-North Railroad, MTA NYC Transit Bus and Subway Servie, including Staten Island Railway, will all be gradually restored Tuesday morning. All services will operate on a Sunday schedule for Tuesday, and a full weekday service will return Wednesday. New York City was spared the worst of a winter storm as it moved further east, and forecasts that had earlier predicted 1 to 3 feet of snow across the Northeast were downgraded.
