New iPads May Come Equipped with Dual Cameras, Sources Say
Apple (NASDAQ:APPL) is apparently getting ready to develop a new round of iPads in the first-quarter of next year that may sport dual front and rear cameras.
Sources gave Reuters mixed reports about the future of the iPad, some saying they were gearing up for a new batch with previously supplied components used in the original tablet and others that pointed to a new generation iPad.
One of the suppliers said the revamped model would feature cameras, while the other said the new model would be slimmer, lighter and have a better resolution display.
The original iPad has rapidly expanded in popularity, selling millions of units since it was introduced earlier this year.
New suppliers to the iPad are expected to be Wintek Corp., which designs touchscreens, Simplo Technology, a battery producer, and electronics cover maker AVY Precision, according to four of Reuters’ unnamed sources.
Two of those people said camera module makers Genius Electronic Optical and Largan Precision have entered into new supply deals with Apple, however it hasn't been confirmed whether those would be used for the iPad.
