New Haven's Tweed Airport negotiates with Missouri airline for link to Washington's Dulles

Officials at Tweed New Haven Regional Airport say they're negotiating with a Missouri-based airline to link southern Connecticut to Washington, D.C.

The New Haven Register reports (http://bit.ly/1Jr9ptv ) reports that airport authority Chairman John Picard and Executive Director Tim Larson the airport is is negotiating with Buzz Airways of Branson, Missouri, to run regular, scheduled charter service between New Haven and Dulles International Airport in Virginia outside Washington.

Buzz Air would run scheduled charter service, three round-trip flights daily to compete with Amtrak's Acela high-speed rail.

The deal is not final, but New Haven and airport officials detailed plans to representatives of Yale University, Yale-New Haven Hospital, University of New Haven, Sikorsky Aircraft and others.

Tweed hasn't had nonstop service beyond Philadelphia since the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
