Nasdaq Dips Friday, Staying Below The 5,000 Mark
The Nasdaq Composite pulled back in morning action Friday after first showing little change at the open. The tech-heavy index was down 11 points, or 0.2%, to 4,977 at last check, leaving it 23 points from the closely watched 5,000 level that it hasn't topped in 15 years. Apple -- the Nasdaq's biggest component -- dropped 0.7% in morning trade, weighing on the index. The Nasdaq is also holding about 1.4% below its March 2000 record close of 5,048.62.
