Nasdaq Composite On Course For Worst Four-day Selloff In Nearly 4 Years
The Nasdaq Composite slid 2.2% in midday trade Friday, to the lowest level since Feb. 10. The technology-friendly index has now dropped 6.4% over the past four sessions, which puts it on track for its worst four-session stretch since the four-days ending Oct. 3, 2011, when the index shed 8.3%. Back then, the index shot up 7.3% the next three sessions. But after a 6.1%, four-day decline ending Nov. 21, 2011, the index fell another 3.2% over the next three sessions, before bouncing. The Nasdaq Comp is still up 0.7% year to date, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average is down 6.5% and the S&P 500 Index has lost 3.1%.
