MSG plans on-demand streaming of Knicks games and other content for pay-TV customers

Madison Square Garden Co. said Wednesday it is launching an on-demand service called MSG Go that will allow cable subscribers to watch Knicks games and MSG Network shows.

MSG Go will be available to subscribers of pay-TV networks that carry MSG Networks. The company said it has reached a deal with Cablevision and is having discussions with other cable operators. It plans to launch MSG Go in December, and says subscribers will be able to watch MSG Network coverage of live Knicks games as well as pregame and postgame shows and current and past episodes of original shows.

The on-demand service will run on computers, smartphones and tablets. The company said subscribers won't have to pay to use MSG Go and the service will come with a free app.

Shares of Madison Square Garden Co. rose $1.64, or 2.2 percent, to $74.56 in afternoon trading.
