Microsoft Leads Tech Gains; Amazon, Pandora Slump

Tech stocks were generally up in early trading Friday, with Microsoft Corp. among the advancers. The software giant's shares rose 2% to $45.89 after Microsoft reported better-than-expected quarterly results late Thursday. With Microsoft in the lead, the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite Index rose 12 points to 4,465. However, big losses from Amazon.com Inc. and Pandora Media Inc. also stood out. Amazon fell 7%, to $291.06, while Pandora was down by 12% at $20.30 a share as investors were disappointed by aspects of both companies' quarterly results.
